Youtube.com requires nonfree software (Javascript code) for normal use of the
site; after changes Google made in August 2017, nothing is visible in a typical Youtube page without running
its nonfree Javascript code.
[...]
However, it is ok to refer to the same videos on an offshoot of invidio.us; just make sure not to
choose one that is "protected" by Cloudflare, since that sends its own nonfree software. This way of
referring is probably fail-safe: it may cease to work, but it will probably not start leading people to
run nonfree software. You don't need a special "platform" to post an audio or video on the Web. You can
post an audio or video file on any web site. Just put up the WebM file and link to it as if it were an
ordinary page. All graphical browsers can handle that.
I suggest that you don't watch the video with the browser, but download it with
yt-dlp
instead and play it from your hard drive,
with a specialised program, particularly if you want to watch it more than once, because:
- Hard drives have direct memory access,
but your internet connection doesn't. This means that when you watch a video from the internet in your browser, the CPU
has to handle the data transfer, as well as encryption and decryption, leading to lower performance and increased
electricity consumption, especially since all sites with videos on them use
HTTPS.
- Whenever you watch a video online, the server on which it's stored, as well as all the other servers and
routers involved in transferring the file to you need extra energy to perform this task.
- If you have a metered internet connection, you will obviously save a lot of bandwidth if you watch the video
from the hard drive.
- Browsers are not optimised for playing videos, so you will get much better performance and energy efficiency if
you use a specialised program.
So if you are concerned with global heating, pollution and exhaustion of Earth's resources, you should
download all the videos you want to watch.

Nos insensati, vitam illorun. / We, being foolish, have lost our lives.
Quid nobis profuit superbia? / What has pride profited us?
Aut divitiarum iactantia quid contulit nobis? / Or what has the boasting of riches brought us?
Ecce mysterium vobis dico: / Behold, I tell you a mystery:
[Rap part:]
Listen the story of a foolish man, a foolish 90 year old man who lived north
of the mountains Taihang and Wangwu right in front of his doorsteps, in front
of his doorsteps, listen... Foolish old man... felt the mountains should no
longer stand, so he called all of his clan, magnificent and [?] they made a
plan. Foolish old man and the [?] clan, they made a plan - take the mountains
to the sea.
Nos insensati, vitam illorun.
Quid nobis profuit superbia?
Aut divitiarum iactantia quid contulit nobis?
Ecce mysterium vobis dico:
So like I said, the [?] clan, the foolish old man, began what they planned
while full (?) Taihang should go to the sea, rock by rock, stone by stone,
no mountain or block, a hunk (?), but a spiritual man with a snake in his hand
overheard the plan, so he told a great god, who sent the sons of a giant god
and who saved the mountains from the sea. The foolish old man and the [?]
clan, they made a plan, but they didn't succeed.
Nos insensati, vitam illorun. / We, being foolish, have lost our lives.
Quid nobis profuit superbia? / What has pride profited us?
